The "New Meadowlands Stadium" is the future home of the National Football League's New York Giants and New York Jets. Located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, this state-of-the-art stadium is slated to open in April of 2010. In addition to pro football, the stadium plans on hosting a wide variety other sports and entertainment events.
During the engineering stage for the heating plant, the stadium’s contracted design engineers sought to take advantage of the latest boiler technologies to achieve maximum efficiency and performance. After much consideration, they chose UNILUX Hot Water Boilers with Power Flame Lo Nox gas fired burners for the project.
What made Unilux standout above the competition? Unilux’s bent water tube boiler design provides the highest rated efficiency in the industry today -- all within the smallest physical footprint. Most important, Unilux has a superior heat transfer rate which allows each boiler to respond to the rapid demand changes unique to the stadium’s operation.
Provided for the project are four (4) Unilux ZF series boilers totaling 1600 HP or 64.3 million BTU’s. The smallest boiler, at 100 HP, will provide heat to the domestic water heat exchangers serving the stadium’s kitchens, restrooms and showers during the summer months. The larger boilers, each of which are 500 HP, will provided heat and hot water during the winter months for the luxury suites, stadium offices, restaurants, locker rooms and public areas.
What else made Unilux the right choice? Ease of maintenance, 30-plus years of boiler manufacturing and product support from the factory in Schenectady, New York, a 25 year non-prorated warranty against thermal shock to the boiler tubes – and, Thermco, Unilux's Manufacturer’s Rep who provided support from the very beginning and who will be there until the last touchdown! |
